The short answer
A bakery customer has three questions. Answer them, and they order.
Every section below exists to answer one of these, in this order. A site that looks lovely but leaves any of them open sends the customer to WhatsApp to ask — or to the next bakery.
Can you make it for my date?
The date and lead time, before anything else.
What will it cost?
A “from” price on every cake, and the delivery fee.
Can I trust you with my event?
Real cakes, real Google reviews, and halal if your customers need it.
This example is a cake-focused bakery, the type that gets the most orders online because cakes are ordered ahead. Mainly bread and pastries? See what changes. Sugar & Pandan is a made-up Melaka bakery; its prices, reviews and address are illustrative.
Page 1 · The homepage
The full homepage, section by section
Read it top to bottom, the way a customer would on their phone. Each numbered pin matches the note beside it.
Header
Name the menu by what people buy, and keep the order button on screen
“Cakes, Prices, Delivery” matches the three things a customer came to check. The WhatsApp order button stays in the header as they scroll, so it is never more than one tap away.
Bakery tipMost cake orders in Malaysia start on WhatsApp. Make that the main button, not a contact form.
Hero
Answer “can you make it for my date?” before anything else
The headline promises the date, the subhead gives the starting price and the lead time, and the button says exactly what happens next: check my date. The photo is your own cake, not a stock one.
Bakery tipIf you sell to Muslim customers, put “Halal certified” beside the button — it is the first thing they look for. Only show it if you hold the JAKIM certificate, and show the number in the footer.
Cakes for every occasion
Shop by occasion
Sort cakes the way people search: by occasion, with a “from” price
Nobody searches for “chocolate sponge, 2 tier”. They search for a birthday cake or a wedding cake. Four occasions, each with one photo and a starting price, lets them find their cake in one glance.
Bakery tipThe “from RM” price stops the “how much ah?” message that never turns into an order. See should you show prices.
How ordering works
Send your design
Pick one of ours, or send a photo of what you like.
Confirm and pay 50%
We confirm the price and date. The deposit holds your slot.
Collect or we deliver
Pick up from the shop, or delivery anywhere in Melaka.
How it works
Make a custom order feel simple, and say how the deposit works
A first-time customer worries that a custom cake means a long chat and surprises. Three steps, with the deposit rule written plainly, removes that worry before they message you.

Show your real cakes, each with its size and price
Your own photos prove you can make what they want. Labelling each one with the occasion, size and price turns “nice cake” into “I want that one for RM 210”.
Bakery tipLink photos to the order page with that design already chosen. Don’t just embed your Instagram feed — it is slow and leads people away. More in stock photos vs real photos.
★★★★★ 4.9 from 380 Google reviews
“Ready on time for my daughter’s party, and looked exactly like the photo I sent.”
Aisyah R. · Google review
“Not too sweet — every guest asked where the cake was from.”
Mei Ling T. · Google review
“Ordered 200 pieces for our office event. Delivered early, all fresh.”

Reviews
Pick reviews that answer the fears: on time, looks like the photo, tastes good
A cake is for an event that cannot be repeated. The reviews that sell are the ones that say “on time” and “exactly like the photo”. Pull them from Google, with the score and count.
Bakery tipAsk every happy customer for a Google review on pickup day. See how to get Google reviews.

Delivery
Answer “do you deliver to me, and how much?” on the homepage
List your delivery areas with the fee next to each one, plus your shop hours and same-day cut-off. Otherwise this question costs you a WhatsApp chat per customer — and some never ask.

FAQ
Answer the four questions you get on WhatsApp every week
Write down the questions customers ask before every order, and answer them here. Each answer saves you a reply, and the customer who reads them arrives ready to order.
Have a date in mind?
Send us the date and occasion. We reply within the hour, 9am–7pm.
Check my date on WhatsAppLast call
Ask again at the bottom, with the same button
Someone who scrolled to the end is close to ordering. Repeat the same button from the hero, and say how fast you reply, so they don’t wait for a better moment.
Bakery tipSet the WhatsApp link to open with “Hi, I’d like to order a cake for (date)” so the first message already has what you need. See WhatsApp for small business.

Page 2 · Where the order happens
The custom cake order page
Every “Order” and “Check my date” button leads here. Its job is to turn a WhatsApp chat of twenty messages into one complete order.
Order a custom cake
Takes 1 minute. We confirm on WhatsApp within the hour.
Date first
Show the earliest date you can do, then ask for theirs
The first question on every order is “can you make it in time?”. Showing the earliest free date answers it before they type, and asking for their date first means they never fill a form for nothing.

Size and price
Sell sizes by number of people, with the price on each
Customers know how many guests are coming, not how many inches they need. Showing people per size, with the price, lets them choose without asking you.
The design
Let them send a photo instead of describing the cake
“Like this, but pink” is how most custom orders start. A photo upload and a link to your gallery turns a long chat into one message. Keep the rest to flavour and the words on the cake.
Delivery
Add the delivery fee as they choose the area
No surprise at the end. The fee appears as soon as they pick their area, so the price you confirm on WhatsApp is the price they expected.

End with the total, the deposit, and one button
Show what they are ordering and what it costs, then send it all to WhatsApp in one tap. “Nothing is charged until we confirm” removes the last reason to wait.
Bakery tipYou receive a complete order — date, size, design, address — instead of “hi, can order cake?”. Read more on forms that get filled in.
Page 3 · Where the price is decided
The price list page
The page most visitors open second. If the price is missing, the visit ends with a “how much?” message — or nothing.
Cake prices
Prices checked November 2026. Delivery is extra.
Birthday cakes
The table
One table per occasion, with sizes, people and prices
A clear table answers “how much?” for most orders. Group it by occasion so it matches the homepage, and date the prices so customers know they are current.
Add-ons
Add-ons
Price the extras, so a big cake doesn’t become a surprise
Most custom cakes cost more than the base price because of figures, tiers and toppers. Listing them lets customers build their own estimate and choose what fits their budget.
Birthday
Order 3 days aheadKids’ character
Order 5 days aheadWedding
Order 3 weeks aheadOffice & bulk
Order 2 days, min 50 pcsLead times
Put the order deadline next to each type of cake
A wedding cake needs weeks; a birthday cake needs days. Showing both stops last-minute requests you have to turn down, and pushes early planners to book now.
Next step
Every price leads straight to the order page
Don’t let the price list end the visit. “Order this size” opens the order page with the size already chosen; WhatsApp is there for anyone who still has a question.
The other pages
What each of the other pages must do
These matter less for orders, so keep them short. One job each.
About the baker
Your face, your kitchen and why you bake. People order event cakes from a person they trust. See About Us pages.
Halal & ingredients
Your certificate, what you use, and what you avoid (eggs, nuts, alcohol). Only if your customers ask — and only claims you can prove.
Office & bulk orders
Minimum quantity, price per piece, invoice and delivery times. Companies order again and again.
Contact & find us
Map, hours, parking, phone and WhatsApp. The same details as your Google listing.
Bread & pastry bakeries
If you mainly sell bread and pastries
Your customers don’t order for a date. They want to know what’s fresh today and when you’re open. Keep the same rules — real photos, Google reviews, WhatsApp — and change these four things.
Today’s bakes in the hero
Replace “check my date” with what’s on the shelf today and your opening hours. “Open now · until 7pm” beats any headline.
Fresh-out times
“Sourdough at 7am, curry puffs at 10am, kaya buns at 3pm.” Regulars plan their visit around it, and it gives them a reason to come early.
Pre-order trays
Offices, events and kenduri order in bulk ahead of time. Show tray sizes, price per tray and the order deadline, with a WhatsApp button.
Find us, fast
A map, parking tips and “walk 2 minutes from Jonker Street”. For walk-in customers, the directions are the main call to action.
The checklist below still applies — just read “date” as “today”.
What good looks like
Bakery website checklist
Check your own site against these. Each one you are missing is a question your customer has to ask before they order.
Date and lead time in the hero
“Order 3 days ahead” where they see it first.
WhatsApp order button in the header
Always one tap away, opening with a ready message.
Cakes sorted by occasion
Birthday, kids, wedding, office — with a “from” price.
Your own cake photos, labelled
Occasion, size and price on each one.
Google reviews about timing and taste
Score, count, and three reviews that answer the fears.
Delivery areas with fees
Plus shop hours and the same-day cut-off.
An order page that asks for the date first
Size by number of people, photo upload, total and deposit.
A dated price list
Sizes, add-ons and lead times, each leading to the order page.
Four things that lose cake orders
“PM for price”
Most people won’t message to ask. They order from the bakery that shows a price.
The menu as a PDF or a photo
Slow on a phone, can’t be read by Google, and hard to update.
An Instagram feed instead of a gallery
Slow to load, no prices, and it leads customers off your site.
A long order form with no date first
Fifteen fields, then “sorry, fully booked”. Ask for the date first.
